What are employment streams?

Employment streams can be added to employments in the Employment Manager. Each employment needs an employment stream connected to it. Essentially, the employment stream is the container that holds all the employee details. When you create a new employment stream, Jemini will create a copy of an employee record which you can access in the Employees application. The employment stream also acts as a placeholder occupancy record.

If you need help choosing the best configuration approach, refer to Configuring Multiple Employments - Best practices and tips.

Quick tips for managing employment streams

  • To access employment streams, as shown in the screenshot above, open the Employment Manager then select the relevant employment. Make sure you select the card and not the Pencil Icon:

  • The Employment section indicates the employment you’ve selected.

  • The Employment Streams section shows Current, Forecast, and Historical employment streams.

  • An employment must have at least one employment stream.

    • The ‘Initial employment’ contains an ‘Initial employment stream’ by default. You can change the names if you wish, but you can’t delete them.

    • If you create a new employment, you’ll need to create the employment stream yourself.

  • You can add another employment stream using the Add a new employment stream button at the top left, which will open the ADD EMPLOYMENT STREAM panel.

  • If you select the Pencil Icon on the employment stream record, the EMPLOYMENT STREAM panel will open, which is where you can edit the employment stream name, start date, and end date. This is also where you can delete the employment stream. Note: deleting an employment stream is not the same as terminating an employment.

  4. Select Add new employment stream to open the ADD EMPLOYMENT STREAM panel.

  5. Enter the NAME of the new employment stream.

    • We recommend giving the employment stream a name that clearly indicates which occupancy will be attached to it. This is because the employment stream will act as a placeholder occupancy record.

    • The name must also be unique—it can’t have the same name as other employment streams or employments.

  6. Enter the START DATE of the new employment stream.

    • The start date defaults to today’s date.

  7. (Optional) Enter the END DATE if known.

  8. Select the Green Tick Button to save and close the panel.
