How to add Legal Entity Organisation Components (Australia only)

How Legal Entity Organisation Components work

Organisation Components that are set up as Legal Entities are the foundation for your payrolls. Each payroll must have a Legal Entity Organisation Component connected to it.

How to add an Australian Legal Entity Organisation Component

TIP

What you’ll need before you begin:

  1. Payer information:

    1. Payer country code

    2. Payer postcode

    3. Trading name

    4. Contact name and details

  2. Identification numbers:

    1. ABN (Australian Business Number)

    2. Registered agent number

  3. Banking details:

    1. Payer name

    2. Financial institution

    3. Branch code (if applicable)

    4. APCA number

    5. Account name, BSB number, and account number

  4. Transaction details:

    1. Direct credit file format

  1. Go to BUSINESS > ORGANISATION COMPONENTS > ORGANISATION COMPONENTS.

  2. Select Add component to open the ADD ORGANISATION panel.

  3. Select a COMPONENT TYPE to open the COMPONENT TYPES backpack and choose one from the list.

  4. Enter the COMPONENT NAME.

    • We suggest using a name that helps you to quickly and easily identify the component.

    • The name will appear when connecting the component to a payroll, person, or position.

  5. (Optional)  Enter the COMPONENT DESCRIPTION.

    • The description you use can help you identify the purpose of the component.

  6. The USAGE is a read-only indicator for how many connections the component has.

  7. Set ACTIVE to Yes or No.

    • Set to Yes to make the component visible and available to use in other areas of Jemini

    • Set to No to hide the component from other areas in Jemini until you're ready to activate it.

  8. (Optional) Select a LOCATION by opening the LOCATIONS backpack and choosing one from the list.

    • Locations allow you to categorise your organisation components by area. For example, if your legal entity is based in your Melbourne head office, you might want add that location to the component.

    • Locations are configured specifically for your organisation. Refer to Locations - Getting started.

  9. (Optional) Select a FUNCTION by opening the FUNCTIONS backpack and choosing one from the list.

    • Functions allow you another way to categorise your organisation components. There’s also a filter option in the Organisation Components Controls, allowing you to sort your organisation components by function.

    • Functions are configured specifically for your organisation. These are set up in Business Core Tables.

  10. Set LEGAL ENTITY to Yes.

    When set to Yes, you’ll need to provide the following information regarding the legal entity:

    • COUNTRY

    • PAYER COUNTRY CODE

    • PAYER POSTCODE (if payer country code is Australia - AU)

    • ABN NUMBER

    • REGISTERED AGENT NUMBER.

    • BRANCH CODE (if business is a branch)

    • TRADING NAME

    • CONTACT NAME (and their contact details)

    • DIRECT CREDIT FILE FORMAT

    • PAYER NAME (and remaining banking details)

  11. Set OWNER to Yes or No.

    • If set to Yes, you’ll have the option to select the EMPLOYEE AUTONUMBER and POSITION AUTONUMBER.

    • If set to No, move on to the next step.

  12. For companies using Single Touch Payroll (STP):

    TIP

    You can leave this step for later, if you prefer.

    1. Select Generate software ID. This will open the SOFTWARE ID panel.

    2. In the newly opened panel, select Generate ID. Once Jemini generates the Software ID, the ID will display, the Copy ID button will become active and the Generate ID button will become inactive.

    3. Select the Green Tick Button to save and close the SOFTWARE ID panel.

      Once the Software ID panel is closed, the generated ID will display in the ORGANISATION COMPONENT panel.

  13. Select the Green Tick Button to save and close the panel.


How to access your Software ID for Single Touch Payroll (STP)

After you save the Legal Entity Organisation Component, Jemini automatically generates a Software ID. If you’re using Single Touch Payroll (STP), you'll need to provide this ID to the ATO.
